We have e-residents all over the world and here are few that we would like to introduce.

Business owner remaining in the EU Single Market after Brexit
Ella is a serial entrepreneur that has been a part of the UK’s booming video game industry as Director of Strike Gameslabs and Rocket Lolly Games, as well as a board member for UKIE and the Creative Skillset Computer Games Council. She signed up for e-Residency after the Brexit vote, to possibly mitigate negative effects on her business.
“Signing up for e-Residency is an easy process and with the current situation, I believe it is worth considering, even if you don’t yet know if you will need to use it.”

Business owner exporting to the EU
Arvind left his 30 year career in the steel industry to start his own business exporting products to the EU. He found that e-Residency was by far the simplest and most hassle-free way to start his new entrepreneurial venture and obtain credibility in the marketplace.
“Credibility is very important for new technology, but when I present myself as an e-resident of Estonia, it demonstrates that connection we have to Europe. We are using Estonia as a stepping stone to the rest of Europe and the world.”

How I started an EU-based business with almost no money
Starting a business can be expensive, but Belgian freelancer Ilias Ismanaliejev significantly lowered his costs using LeapIN and Estonian e-Residency. Adam Rang interviewed him to find out how.

If you’re planning to start a business then you know one of the biggest obstacles is the upfront cost of investment. Before you can earn a single cent, you first have to pay for a wide range of costs including incorporation, accountancy, legal fees, an address, equipment, a website, marketing, business cards, as well as a few unexpected surprises.
This can be really frustrating when you know you have the skills and contacts to earn a decent income once the company is up and running.
The old joke is that aspiring entrepreneurs must turn to ‘friends, family and fools’ in order to find the finance they need to start their business. In reality, many wait a long time to accrue enough savings or seek loans at higher interest from banks and other finance providers.
This helps explain why the average age for someone starting a business is in their 40s, according to a range of studies.
Raising finance can be an issue, but the most important way to overcome the financial costs of starting a business is to ensure those costs are as low as possible.
In the US, a study by the Kauffmann Foundation revealed that the average cost is around $30,000 (€28,000), although it is possible to establish a microbusiness for comparatively little at around $3,000 (€3,200).
Over in the UK, a study by Opinium Research was less optimistic. It concluded that the average startup cost was almost £94,000 (€110,000), while even a microbusiness would need an investment of around £41,000 (€48,000).
Across the rest of the European Union, there are no clear estimates for the cost of starting a business because there is enormous variation across the member states. This variation includes both direct costs, such as incorporation and business services, as well as indirect costs, such as the hassle of dealing with local bureaucracy.
However, what is consistent about businesses set up inside the European Union is that they benefit from unrestricted access to the world’s largest single market and also benefit from the enhanced credibility and legal protections of the EU when doing business anywhere in the world.
Enter Ilias Ismanalijev
Ilias Ismanaliejev from Gent in Belgium established his business last year at the age of just 23 in order to support his freelance work.
While his classmates stuck to more traditional student jobs such as bartending, Ilias realised as early as high school that he could sell his expertise in web development to earn part-time income.
His freelance work also helped finance his way through college so by the time he earned his degree, Ilias was already heavily in demand from a growing list of clients, both in Belgium and across Europe.
Instead of taking an entry-level job like others who graduated at the same time, Ilias decided it was time to set up his own limited liability company in order to support his work. This would provide him with a good income and increased opportunities, as well as the freedom to set his own schedule and travel whenever he wanted.
He named his company Illyism and now uses it to provide both front and back end web development, as well as graphic design and applications.
